* Season opener!

by

Bostonians Joanna and Jeff were hoping to host the quintessential New England wedding when they chose their site in Princeton, Massachusetts, atop Wachusett Mountain. They were married in a classic white Congregational Church (ceremony complete w/ a celebratory ringing of the church bell on their way out) and the reception was nearby at Harrington Farm.

Take a peek at some images on a slideshow, set to "I Will Love You" by Fisher, their gorgeous first dance song. There's a lot of images on there, so I hope you don't get too dizzy watching!

Congrats, Joanna and Jeff! I had a blast! And I can't wait to hear about your honeymoon to the French Polynesia!

"Hi! I don't think there are enough ways we can say how happy we are with your work. It's exactly what we wanted."

Thank you, Mr Drew!

This morning, I had the ridiculously fantastic honor of talking to high school photo students at Kennebunk High School. The connection? Their teacher- Geoff Drew- was MY high school photo teacher 10 years ago in Hollis, New Hampshire. Since then he has taught in Connecticut, Maryland and now Maine.

If there was ever one teacher who had the most influence on my career, it was him by a mile. He would stay after school with me day after day, feeding my photography addiction and teaching me the craft. He is the one who encouraged me to follow my passion and study photography in college instead of a more traditional path. And I did indeed! Like him, I also went to Syracuse University.

A few years after graduation I received a grant from the White House News Photographers Association. As part of that award, I was asked to speak at a photo seminar at the Museum of Natural History in Washington, DC. I presented a slideshow of my work and spoke about how I got into the business, recounting my amazing high school photography teacher who encouraged and believed in me. To my complete surprise, Mr. Drew was in the audience that day with his photo class from Maryland. It was a very cool moment.

So, today, it was very special to see his continuing influence on young futures in his super cool classroom. I was very impressed with his group of kids and am already looking forward to a return visit.

Thank you!!

update: Fitness for a Cure

Those involved with last weekend's event have been forwarding my slide show url to friends and family, some of whom were not able to attend the event but were inspired to make a donation after viewing the photos! Very cool!

David Ziser in DC

Monday, I attended a seminar by photographer David Ziser in Washington, DC. He spoke to a full house on what he believes are the most important elements of wedding photography today and showcased a handful of products by his many sponsors. I enjoyed catching up with my dear friend Lawrence (who got engaged on Sunday! Congrats again, L!) and some pals from the industry.

Fitness for a Cure success!

I had the pleasure of photographing Fitness for a Cure in Nashua, NH, last weekend. The event raised over $150,000 for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, TN!

The afternoon family event featured face painting, ice cream, Locks of Love haircuts, and a fitness show by the St. Jude Performance Team. In the evening there was a formal dinner, silent auction and another show by the performance team. Several patients from the hospital were in town for the day, as well as parents, nurses and the hospital's CEO John Moses.

Please take a moment and look at a slideshow sampling of images from the day: www.emilieinc.net/stjude.

The reaction:

I watched the slide show and cried my eyes out on how beautiful the pictures are. These pictures will send a message to all who view on how much we love St. Jude and the St. Jude families will have these forever..."

"I hope you know how much I appreciate your time, energy and talent. It's like God knew you were supposed to be with our team of angels! Emilie thank you so much! I absolutely loved loved the slide show!"
