Ed Kashi

by

During college I spent a semester in London studying photography under National Geographic photographer Ed Kashi. At that time he was working on an extensive personal photography project about aging in America. Ironically, Ed is now living his work... he and his wife Julie recently moved their family from San Francisco to New Jersey to care for Julie's aging father. Take a peek at their moving video.

Congratulations to Deanna of Newburyport for winning the inaugural photo contest with this adorable photo of her son Max! Well done! Great angle, moment and autumnal color palette!

(I have not met this adorable little boy; Deanna randomly stumbled across my blog and has been checking back at the goings-on of emilie inc. Neat!)

Thanks to everyone for your entries and participation!

holiday cards

by

If you have a photograph you would like to use for your family's holiday card, I encourage you to check out Tasha Rae Designs. Her work is beautiful, creative and very fresh. She can even make a card from your child's artwork! To boot, she donates a chunk of her profit to several great charities.

ps- Happy 3rd Birthday, Dakota!

Fall photo contest- extended!

by

Starting Wednesday, I will be driving cross-country (fun!) so the Fall photo contest deadline has been extended until I return on November 17th. Keep those entries coming! They are terrific so far!

* Alie

by

This morning I had a quick photo session with Alie, a 5 month yellow lab mix. Isn't she adorable? She was adopted from a shelter in the South and is settling in to Maine life nicely. She attends the same daycare as Dakota.

Alie has a purple tongue!

Season wrap-up!

by

Last weekend marked the official end to this wedding season (I have a 2-month break until my next wedding). Thank you ALL for the best wedding season yet! You all make my job such fun and keep me on my toes from week-to-week as I capture your unique celebrations. I truly appreciate your kindness and creative trust throughout the wedding process. Congratulations!!!

Now that I have a bit of a lull, I will be taking a little time for fun! Next week I will be flying to California and driving back east! I've always wanted to make the cross-country voyage, and will definitely report back on our adventures.

During the winter months I have lots of availability to design your custom album. If you have been thinking about putting together a keepsake book from your big day, now is a great time to get started. I also use this time for lifestyle portrait sessions of itty bitty newborns in their nurseries and the occasional outside snow portraits (believe it or not, bundled-up engagement shoots are quite romantic).

Mostly, tho, I spend the majority of this down time meeting with prospective clients and bettering emilie inc. by attending workshops and checking out new technology. It's very important to stay fresh in this always-changing industry.

Have any comments or suggestions? Let me know!

* Jada and Kris

by

Elementary school friend Jada and Kris were married in South Carolina last weekend. After Kris proposed last May, they chose their date based on my availability. Wow!

The ceremony was at the Myrtle Beach Community Church chapel (adorable!) with a reception at Pawleys Plantation in Pawleys Island.

A few pics:

Final adjustments at the back of the church.
The adorable chapel!
Celebration!
Flare!
Garter toss pictures aren't easy. I loved the expressions in this one.
Congratulations, Jada and Kris. I loved being a part of your wedding weekend! Please come visit Maine soon!
