Holiday Inspiration Day #1: family portrait session

by

Still dragging your feet about taking your family portrait for your holiday cards? Trust me, setting up a timer and hoping for the perfect shot is nearly impossible (we tried it yesterday! What a disaster!).

Tho oftentimes children don't want to have their photo taken, or the little bébé bumped his nose and has a scratch from the night before- no worries! Is looking perfect and being on our best behavior really the essence of your family?

Instead, embrace the idea of having a professional capture your family as you play and giggle together as a family no matter the circumstance. Tantrums with little ones often are the norm. It's ok! That's why it's best to disguise a portrait session as a play date with a camera. Have an activity planned that involves everyone... cooking in the kitchen, trimming the tree, making a snowman, etc. In between "the doing" I am easily able to capture the expressions and personality of each family member. Once comfortable, then we can gather for a more formal pose.

Consider making this a tradition! I have had the pleasure of photographing several families for a number of years in a row. What a treat to watch the children grow, and I love how significant my role has become in these families' lives. I am their photographer. Period. There's no better honor.

I have a few openings this week or next if you'd like to give it a go! Email me for more information!
