I met Nicole, John and Nicole's mom Peg on a wintry afternoon in a coffee shop last year. I loved listening to their love of fall, the Giants and the Red Sox, how they both met while working at Hannaford as kids, and the beauty of the SMCC campus where Peg works.

Fast forward to October, and these two were blessed with a cool, but not cold, fall day for their waterfront nuptials. The ceremony was especially touching as it highlighted the lives of Nicole's father and John's mother, both deceased. Nicole's mom was her maid of honor. There wasn't a dry eye (myself included).

At one point there was a tug on my sleeve and I feared I was somehow in the wrong place blocking someone's view. Nope. It was Eben Marsh, the man who built my home! He is John's uncle. Such a small world. Eben's wife passed away from cancer not long after I moved into my house. It was awful, made worse by the fact that they had an adorably energetic basset hound pup that was too much for them to care for. Eben sent a mass email, which I passed along to my dog-loving friends. Sam, the basset, found a perfect home on a farm in NH of one of my mom's co-workers.

Miss Nicole.

Groom John.

Couldn't have timed the sailboat if we tried. What luck!

This was the first time I've photographed a wedding at SMCC even tho the beach is a regular favorite of ours for walks with the dogs!

At the reception, guests were given all the pieces to assemble a scrapbook page.

Pretty fall tabletop touches.

This is my builder Eben giving the blessing.

Game 6 was on and, altho the dj gave frequent updates, guests were sneaking to the bar to check the score.

I love djs who bring colorful lights. Adds a little punch to ballrooms.

Mmmmm..... cake!

These two were up for anything! Including a little smooching in the stalls. Love this!

My dear Nicole and John, can you believe it's over?! Thanks so much for the opportunity to capture such a special day in my backyard of South Portland. I'm looking forward to catching up with you and your mom over lunch soon. Hugs!
