introducing Morgan to emilie inc.

Please help me in welcoming Morgan Kirkham to the emilie inc. team!

Morgan, who goes by Moe, is now available to bring his multimedia talents to your wedding day, combining the three elements of video, sound and still photographs to create a moving account of the day's events.

I hatched this idea after being asked time and time again for videographer recommendations and not having someone I could confidently suggest. Honestly, I'd typically rather not work with a videographer because the nature of our styles is so different and we have to work so closely (I still cringe thinking of one wedding where the videographer circled the bride & groom during their first dance. For the whole song. If I didn't want him in my shot, I had to circle too. I'm dizzy just thinking about it!). But I understand that people want to record voices and motion that I just cannot do with my cameras.

I started the interview process last fall. Morgan stood out to me immediately, and not just because his name is Morgan (which is my middle name). Morgan is curious and enthusiastic about everything he goes after, always eager to learn and grow. He's a fun person to be around, and always has something interesting to add to the conversation. Morgan graduated from Vassar College with a degree in African American History (my minor), and then traveled and taught English in Asia for five years before returning home to complete the Maine Media Workshops' one year photography program. There, he had the opportunity to master the latest multimedia equipment and assisted Dirck Halstead (founder of Digitaljournalist.org) and PF Bentley in teaching their Platypus Video workshops. The icing on the cake? Morgan went to high school with Lauren (my Jamaica bride from last spring whose portrait against a bright green wall has quickly become an emilie inc. signature image), and she had nothing but great things to say about him, too.

Together, Morgan and I have worked to create this new product, balancing the unobtrusive photojournalism style that I prefer with the challenge of the obvious awareness of a video camera. It's a fragile dance, and I'm so excited with the result.

So without further ado, please enjoy Morgan's premier sample from Kate and Ray's wedding at the Retreat at French's Point. Note that all sound included in the film is recorded from the day (starts with the ceremony musicians warming up).

Morgan is working exclusively with emilie inc. and is available for any of our weddings, including with associates Jason and Whitney. Please check out www.emilieincassociates.com and then send me an email for further details to snag him an addition to your wedding coverage! We're now booking him for all wedding dates!

Happy to have you join us, Moe!!
