Pink Initiative status: approved!

After this morning's workout, I stopped by the Post Office as usual and, as I have done every time for the last 9 months, secretly hoped their would be a letter from the IRS with an update on my 501(c)(3) application for Pink Initiative. Today, there was! We're approved!!!

If you didn't already know, Pink Initiative is a non-profit I founded to help raise awareness and help fund a cure for breast cancer among wedding industry professionals and private sponsors. In those long months of waiting for approval, together with a board of directors, we began to spread the word of our efforts and already have more than 70 vendors from across the US participating and $4000 raised.

And that's just the beginning.

I've been so inspired by vendor sponsors who are taking it one step further and, instead of just making their annual donation are going above and beyond to make a difference. Invitation Consultants, an amazing online invitation resource, created three bridal shower invitation designs with proceeds to benefit Pink Initiative. National magazine Bride & Bloom published a beautiful reception table scape featuring a favor donation to Pink Initiative courtesy of board member and planner extraordinaire Liene Stevens. Today, wedding planner and vendor sponsor Ali Phillips is hosting a golf tournament in Chicago with proceeds to benefit Pink Initiative!

It's truly so, so humbling. And makes me smile to see folks in the wedding industry rally together to help with such an important cause.

This couldn't have happened, mind you, without the gracious help from my lawyer Dan Hoffman and his assistant Teresa who donated their time and expertise, accountant Lori Alberti of Poulin Financial, our amazing and passionate board of directors, my designer Christina, my supportive family for believing in me and, of course, Donna, the inspiration and reason for my involvement.

If you are a wedding vendor, or even if you aren't, and would like to learn more please visit our website. Whether you are a coordinator, photographer, florist, musician, stationer, baker, band, officiant, etc., etc., you are welcome to join our efforts. Together, we can make a difference!
