Caroline and Scott met as students at the University of New Hampshire. Before moving to London together for Scott's job, they married in September 2007 at the Mount Washington Hotel in a small ceremony with just their families. Yes, that's right. These two were legally already wed, but after those intimate I Do's they reserved Labor Day of this year for a big party to celebrate with family and friends. And boy, did they ever! Before 230 guests on a stunner of a Saturday, Caroline and Scott renewed their vows on the Mount Washington Hotel's newly finished Jewell Terrace and partied in the very presidential Grand Ballroom.
I hadn't met or even talked to Caroline or Scott until the morning of their wedding. All communications were via Caroline's mom Alicia who I had met while photographing her relative's wedding in Boston last summer. Alicia was seated at the table of another couple whose nuptials I had photographed the previous fall (following?), and by night's end, I was hired with those two references. I love booking weddings this way, as Alicia was already familiar with me and my work, and didn't have a worry about what I was up to on the wedding day but trusted me to do our thing while she enjoyed the festivities.
The Mount Washington Hotel, if you don't know, is a landmark in New Hampshire's White Mountains at the base of Mount Washington (the highest peak in the northeast at 6,288 ft) dating back to 1902 and host to countless celebrities including Winston Churchill, Thomas Edison, Babe Ruth and three U.S. Presidents. Caroline's family owns a timeshare on the expansive resort grounds, popular for skiing in winter and hiking in summer.
The hotel opened a new wing in January that includes a beautiful spa, modern ballroom and rooftop deck (where today's ceremony was held).
Caroline and her girls process through the lobby to the ceremony.
Beautiful, but breezy, on the rooftop deck!
One of the bridesmaids traveled from Arizona, grabbing a shoebox as she packed, without realizing she packed the silver shoes for an upcoming wedding not the gold she also owns.
The bridal party entered the reception in a conga line.
The mountains glow at sunset.
Rare Form is the perfect name for this band, and the effect it has on wedding guests. :) Based around Boston, they have been a favorite since Jess & Nat's wedding last summer and on the top of my referral list since. They did not disappoint this night.
Dancing away to "Sweet Caroline."
This was the first time I saw a Candy Bar nearly cleaned out at night's end!

Caroline and Scott, and your very fun family and friends: thank you. We had such an enjoyable time basking in the perfect day and the love you two share. Wishing you happy days ahead together in London as Mr and Mrs, again, and always.
