Spring arrived like a lion on Saturday, with temperatures soaring above (gasp!) 70 degrees in Maine!! After a walk on the beach with the dogs- and everyone else who came out of the woodwork happy to hang up their winter coat- I spent a few hours indoors at the lovely Danforth Inn in Portland's west end for their first bridal open house. Showcasing their event space and the talents of local wedding vendors, attendees were treated to an intimate setting to discuss wedding plans while feasting on some yummy refreshments.

The Danforth has become a favorite new spot I just recently discovered when we photographed a wedding reception there on New Year's Eve. Originally built from a wealthy inheritance in 1823, the Federal style mansion's rich history also includes being a prohibition hideout and boarding school back in its day. Today, it can comfortably accommodate up to 45 seated guests or upwards of 100 for standing social gatherings and boasts nine beautifully appointed rooms, a perfect spot for out of town guests looking for non-hotel accommodations. Innkeeper Leslie, her pooch Cooper and the rest of the kind and capable staff will ensure a wonderful experience for all. I'm excited to return again next month to host a bi-annual luncheon of area women wedding photographers.
