Greener Postures hot vinyasa yoga to open in South Portland

by

A few short months ago when I hosted a coffee at the studio for Maine Democratic candidate for governor Rosa Scarcelli, among those who attended was a gal from Boston who was in the process of moving to Maine to open a heated vinyasa yoga studio. This woman, Danielle, is a friend of one of my brides, Sarah, who works for Rosa's campaign (follow?).

Danielle and her friend Heidi have made quick progress of building a yoga studio from the ground up (literally, the floor was dirt in their studio when they started!) in the JP Thornton's plaza on Broadway in South Portland and are nearly ready to open for classes. Tho the building still has a few projects to go, Danielle and Heidi asked me to take a portrait for their press release, and I stayed to take a few others that caught my eye as well. I'll head back in two weeks for their grand opening on May 22nd, and can't wait to show you all the thoughtful details in their design, including many gorgeous recycled and handmade pieces.

If you aren't familiar with the practice, heated vinyasa yoga is flow yoga in a steamy 95ish-degree room, recognized to increase energy and stamina, improve muscle tone, digestion and concentration and helps with the stresses of daily life. I took several classes during my wedding preparations last year and look forward to picking it up again at Greener Postures.
