Sarah initially found me through a mutual friend and fellow Syracuse alum a year ago when she was living in Boston and planning her wedding. With her sweetie Dan and pooch Bella, Sarah has since moved to Portland (yay!), graduated from law school and is working full-time on Rosa Scarcelli's campaign for governor. I'm not sure when the girl sleeps, but in between there we both also signed up for (and subsequently dropped out) of the Junior League together, too.
How Sarah and Dan met, in Sarah's words:
In October 2004, about 9 months before we met, my friend Sarah (Dan's cousin) told me, "you should meet my cousin Dan" over drinks at a bar outside of Boston. She even emailed me a photo of him at work the next day. I thought he was cute, but didn't take her suggestion too seriously because I lived in Boston and Dan lived in San Francisco at the time.
I moved to Burlington, Vermont a few months later. Sarah and I kept in touch and, in July 2005, I traveled to Boston to visit her and go to a Red Sox game. Dan happened to be in Boston that same weekend, sadly to celebrate the life of a close friend who had just passed away. Sarah took me to a party that weekend where I ultimately met her cousin Dan and, as they say -- which I never believed in until it happened -- "the rest is history."
Our first date was at a Patty Griffin, Emmy Lou Harris, & Gillian Welch concert at the Shelburne Museum in Burlington, Vermont. Two months later, we drove across the country in separate cars (conversing by walkie-talkie the whole way) and lived together in Lake Tahoe until I started law school in Boston the following year.
After two trips across country, the west to east trip with our beloved Rhodesian Ridgeback Bella, law school and remodeling a home, Dan proposed at the Shelburne Museum in Shelburne, Nova Scotia during a vacation to Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. We recently moved to Maine to put our roots down where life is the way it should be.
They were married on a beautiful, albeit windy, afternoon on the shores of Sebago Lake at Migis Lodge, home to *the* best buffet of all the wedding venues I have ever photographed. The Lodge staff is both kind and attentive to every last detail. And lucky me, I get to photograph there the next two weekends as well! Sarah and Dan chose it because it reminded them of Lake Tahoe and they were looking for a casual setting they could enjoy for a weekend with their guests. I brought along our newest associate photographer Joel Page and captured all of the fun goings-ons.

Walking through the woods to the ceremony.
Dan spies his bride.
So, they kissed when they saw each other. Not traditional, no, but a fun unexpected capture with such moody back lighting.

Congratulations, Sarah and Dan!! Thank you so much for having us, and hoping you are having the BEST time on St John (they are renting the same villa as my parents did for my wedding there last year!). xoxoxo
