Moving, Part 1

by

Following the recent closing of our first floor neighbor, the beloved North Star Music Cafe, my landlord offered me the chance to vacate as his ideal tenant will occupy all three floors of the building. With our lease expiring soon and knowing already that I wouldn't be renewing the space for another three years, we bit. And today, we moved out.

Why, you might ask? Business is fabulous and I adore my wonderful staff and clientele, no worries there, but I have decided to transition to a home studio instead. Our current home is on the market and we're looking forward to finding (or building) a property to better suit both our growing business and growing family in the same location. It's all very exciting, and a bit surreal.

I'd be remiss if I didn't take a moment to thank all of you who have visited 227 Congress Street either for a client meeting, a networking event or social gathering. That space had such a creative, joyful energy, one that I often described to people as "playing office" as it never truly felt like I would go to work when I walked through that door. With the addition of more photographers, videographers and studio staff since I opened, it was definitely the right space to push my business to new heights and I couldn't be happier with the creative team that embodies emilie inc. One dream accomplished, I will treasure the memories of my first studio as I look forward to the next phase of dream chasing: becoming a mom and having a home studio.

I'll definitely keep you posted! In the meantime, it's business as usual, with our staff working remotely keeping our regular office hours (Mon-Thurs, 9a-5p). We can still be reached via the same phone number (207.272.2285) and email addresses.

Kate and Dave just make sense. These two, who were in the same circle of friends for years in New York City and blind to their clear connection, were finally called out by their friends and family to wake up to the obvious relationship budding in front of them. At their rehearsal dinner the night before their wedding, family and friends recounted their time together, detailing memories of trips and their shared love for sailing and tennis, and especially their designer dog Billy. Now, he a realtor and she an interior designer in San Francisco, Kate and Dave hosted a beautiful wedding on the water in Kennebunkport where Kate's mom lives with dinner inside a boathouse and a dance party across the street at a "casino." It was a wonderfully warm and loving day from start to finish.

Love, love, loved working with you both, Kate and Dave! Thank you so much for having us! Hope you have an a-mazing time on your honeymoon, and in your life together! Stay in touch! xo

They decided to seal their union as husband and wife in front of the darling tea house on the grounds of Moraine Farm, a waterfront estate near where Elizabeth grew up. Sunny skies smiled on these two as they exchanged vows and treated their guests to a yummy meal and dancing under the stars in a tent on the estate grounds.

Happy congratulations, Elizabeth and Paul! Wishing you both a lifetime of happiness together!

Californian's Helen and Joe hosted a super sweet rustic Maine wedding where Joe and his family have long spent their summers. He started the day at his family's house, she was at his aunt's house. Then they walked over to the local church. After the ceremony, they walked back over to Joe's family's house for cocktails and bluegrass on the lawn. And then walked to the Paris Hill Academy for dinner downstairs and dancing on the second floor. All of these places are within a block of each other and made for a moving (literally!) celebration. Loved it!

How they met, in their own words:
We met while living and working at the same company in San Diego. We actually were seated next to one another in new hire orientation! All Helen remembers is thinking she was really glad to have started working for a company that hired people as great as Joe. We instantly connected on our East Coast roots, but it wasn't until years later that we began dating. Joe was in Ad Sales and Helen was doing the real work in Marketing :-). We had been friendly coworkers, but it wasn't until Helen was moving to Laguna Beach to take a new job that we really hit it off at her going-away party. From that day on, we were pretty much in love and never looked back. We were long-distance between San Diego and Orange County, and then between Orange County and Los Angeles when Joe took a job with MTV Networks. Helen joined Joe in Los Angeles after the engagement and we now reside in Pacific Palisades.
