Happy Anniversary to Love and Lobster

A year ago this week we started posting daily wedding tips and trends, vendor and venue tours, inspiration boards and images from recent weddings on our coastal New England and Maine wedding blog. A year! In the blog world, it's a fantastic accomplishment and I am so proud of the content we have produced day after day.

We're smitten with the emails we receive from brides and grooms grateful for ideas they have implemented into their wedding planning or vendors who have booked weddings from couples seeing them featured on the site (we have highlighted nearly 200 in our area!). Many thanks to my fantastic staff for their hard work and dedication, and to our loyal readership who check back every day to see our newest post. We receive tens of thousands of page views every month, and our regular readers have doubled in the last six months.

To celebrate, we have a wonderful giveaway from Minted.com, who has generously gifted a reader free wedding invitations (yes, you need to scoot over to read our anniversary post for more details right away. Contest ends this Friday!) and we'll be sharing some of our most popular posts from the year throughout the week.

Have a wedding you would like to share? Have something you would like to see us write about? Don't be shy! Ask away!

Vendors and venues, consider advertising with us and see how exposure on Love and Lobster can boost your business for your 2012 booking season here.

Cheers to our first anniversary and many more!

Oh, what a sweet classic Maine wedding!! Lovely coastal church ceremony followed by an intimate dinner and dancing at the exclusive York Harbor Reading Room overlooking the water. Looking sharp in his Navy whites and radiant in her Monique Lhuiller gown, these two lit up during their vows, portraits and even dodging unexpected rain drops on the beach. What a fun day, beautifully captured by Whitney.

How they met, in their own words:
On our first date in April 2008, we very much clicked. So much so, that we quickly arranged a second and third date and so on and so on. Although we had many differences (city girl, country boy), we found that we had much more in common. We both love the beach, home projects, sports of all kinds (especially baseball!!) kayaking, and exploring the great outdoors together. We both come from wonderful loving families and we are both very close to them today. Family is the focal point in our lives and we are excited to begin our life and family together.

Liana and Michael's wonderfully unique fall wedding in the Berkshires grabbed the attention of The Knot and can be seen on the pages of the Boston edition on newsstands now. It's the first wedding I've photographed where the groom wore jeans, the guests sat on bleachers and the I Do's were swapped while standing on a bed of hay beneath an apple chuppa. It was a feast for my eyes all day long.

* Littlejohn Island, Maine, engagement session of Meryl and Tim

It made my heart happy to spend the evening with Meryl and Tim at their friend's home on Littlejohn Island at dusk. In Maine for the weekend from Chicago to check some things off their upcoming September wedding check list and attend two bridal showers, Meryl and Tim had mere minutes of sleep the night before due to bad weather delays traveling east. But I couldn't tell one bit as we criss-crossed this sweet slice of heaven capturing their ease and adoration for each other. So looking forward to seeing them again in a few months at their friend's wedding and then for their own big day soon after! Yay for summer!

After making it through a picture perfect 2010 wedding season of rain-free wedding days, that record came to an end on Saturday when steady raindrops fell all day long for Angela and Dave's Lake Winnipesaukee wedding in Meredith, New Hampshire. No matter, the ceremony still took place outside under the tent as planned beside the lake. Good for them! Whitney later scouted a sweet secluded overhang for portraits of these two love birds who met in high school! When she asked them if they ever imagined about 10 years later they'd be marrying each other, Angela said no and Dave said yes. :)

More on how they met, in Angela's words:
Dave & I went on our first date when we were only 16 years old! We attended different high schools and were setup on a blind date by mutual friends but didn't hit it off right away. Two years later we ran into each other again and started dating. We spent a great summer together before heading off to different colleges in the fall.

We dated on and off throughout college until our senior year when Dave and some friends made the 5 hour drive to visit me in Syracuse (Emilie and I share the same alma mater - go 'cuse!). We all went out for happy hour that night, and after an unknown number of $2 pitchers at Chuck's, Dave gathered the courage to ask me to be his girlfriend again, and we’ve been together ever since!

Looking back on it now we can’t believe it’s been 10 years since we first met. From prom and graduations, to careers and our first place together, we really have grown up together. We are so excited to see what life has in store for us next.

Their guest book was an Adirondack chair. Adorable.
