Devon first spotted one of our weddings on The Knot and then realized we photographed her best friend's brother's wedding when looking through our portfolio (I love it when that happens!) last year. We were looking forward to their Bar Harbor nuptials for many months and tho fog was certainly nothing anyone had hoped for, the gray day definitely did not deter this fantastic couple and their families from celebrating outside under a tent into the night captured wonderfully by J and Denise.

How they met, in their own words:
It has been nearly seven years since we met outside of Wigglesworth dorm during the first week of freshman year at Harvard College. Devon's roommate had taken an interest in Chris's roommate, and conjured up a dinner between the rooms. We never imagined that agreeing to be "wing men" for our friends that night would be the best decision we ever made. While our roommates never went out again, we became best friends. A year later we started dating, and have been together ever since.

While neither of us is from Maine, we fell in love with it years ago, Mount Desert Island in particular. Chris used to go camping on the island as a child and brought Devon up for the first time nearly five years ago. Since then, we have returned to the island several times a year. In fact, we became engaged on the island when Chris proposed to Devon at the top of Cadillac Mountain one morning at sunrise (the spot where you can see the sun rise for the first time in the U.S. each morning). When we began to think about a wedding location, we simply couldn't think of a more fitting place than Mount Desert Island.

As the men were toasting before the ceremony...

... the ladies were getting ready for the lawn ceremony (love those heel protectors).

And sharing the "something old, borrowed..." traditions with the flower girl.

Devon received a sweet note from Chris just before heading down the aisle.

What a look of adoration as she makes her way to him! Love this!

The fog starts to roll in.

First moment alone.

The azalea gardens across the street are a perfect portrait setting.

Devon's father makes a toast.

And later the dance floor is hopping!
