Another weekend, another wedding at the Inn on Peaks for Whitney! I'm so impressed with her ability to capture weddings at the same place in a different way from week to week; that is almost more challenging than photographing at a venue you have never seen before. Add the fact that Whitney practically lives across the street from the inn and she is in very familiar territory.
Suzanne and Chris were married on the lawn by Suzanne's godfather, and then quickly scooted down to the beach on bikes to make it official by a friend who is a lawyer in Maine. What a sweet little scene! And then they biked back to the inn to clink their glasses, eat some lobstah and share some very special parents dances before an outfit change and dancing, dancing, dancing.
How they met, in their own words:
Chris and Suzanne met 16 years ago in high school in Amherst, New Hampshire. We grew up in the same town and were great friends in high school. While we were close growing up, we never dated--just always appreciated each other's friendship (but come to find out we both always thought the other was cute!). We always hung out during vacation breaks from college and kept in touch as we grew older. While I lived in Boston and Chris lived in North Carolina, he tried desperately to make his way back to the northeast through his job. I got accepted into grad school in San Francisco and Chris moved to Boston 2 months after I moved away!!! Visiting one month we touched base and I helped him move into a new apartment in Boston. We hung out all night, and while our mutual friends threw in their towels and turned in for the night, Chris and I just wanted to keep hanging out! We stayed out bowling until the wee hours of the morning, and the rest is history!
Peaks Island was the first "Maine" mini trip we took when we first moved here. We road our bikes around the island and fell in love with Maine and our new life together here.
