As I was waking to a Peaks Island socked in with fog, Joel and his groomsmen woke to surf.  What better way to start his wedding day.  The fog burned off and made way for beautiful, hot summer weather.  Their first look helped calm some of Lauren's pre-wedding jitters; seeing Joel put her at ease.  Styling in the aqua blue Summer Sessions surf bus (kindly loaned by groomsmen Ryan and Tyler McGill, owners of the Rye, NH surf shop) and with the bride's brother Darren as our awesome driver, the wedding party headed to Drakes Island Beach pre-ceremony for some photos and then to Laudholm Farm in Wells for the rest of the day's festivities.

The wedding party rocked.  The groomsmen were total goofballs, but such gentlemen to the bridesmaids.  Lauren is sweet as can be and the way Joel looks at her is even sweeter.  The two were quite the handsome couple in their wedding garb, beaming from ear to ear all day.  Lauren surprised herself keeping her composure fairly well during the ceremony, though I say shedding some happy tears is only natural. Laudholm Farm is a gorgeous property for a wedding.  My two friends, Beth and John married here in June and I attended their wedding as a guest, so I was excited to shoot Lauren and Joel's wedding here two months later, and I'm really looking forward to shooting the wedding of Alli and Joel (another Joel!) two months from now, curious to see how the leaves will change come October.

The wedding touches were simple and classy -- a candy bar table that made me want to eat all of the jelly candy in the jars, and cupcakes that also called my name, the always delicious food from Kitchen Chicks, personalized champagne flutes for the bride and groom, lobster lollipop place cards for the guests, beautiful bouquets and floral arrangements, a decorative "F" for their last name in the barn where dancing was, and great invitations designed by Lauren's cousin as a wedding present to her and Joel.  It was such a wonderful celebration for such an adorable couple.  And I'm almost certain I will see them again down at Sessions or any beach with waves!  Joel kindly invited me to meet them in the morning to surf, and though I had my wetsuit in my car, I decided I needed to practice a little more before attempting to surf with them :)

I'm sure you two are loving Greece!  Don't worry, there will be waves when you return home!  Congratulations on your wedding, Joel and Lauren!  So happy for you two!

How they met, in their own words:
We met when Lauren moved to Portsmouth and moved into Joel's apartment building. She lived upstairs and Joel lived downstairs. We met Lauren's first weekend living there. It was obvious there was an attraction from the beginning, but Lauren played hard to get for a few months.

We found Laudholm Farm shortly after Joel had taken Lauren to go ring shopping. We took our bikes looking for trails, but stumbled onto a wedding instead. Lauren tried not to say anything presumptuous, but couldn't help herself. She immediately blurted out, "We should get married here one day!"....she didn't even have a ring!
