Alyssa and Nick wedding weekend: welcome dinner and brew tour

We loved getting to know Alyssa and Nick (winners of the Real Maine Wedding of the Year!) through their wedding planning adventures.

The couple celebrated the Wednesday before their wedding with a brew tour through Portland. That Wednesday also happened to be Halloween making that night's festivities all the more exciting. I happily joined the crew, camera in hand.

The tour began at DiMillo's with tasty food and cocktails in front of the fire. Even though it was already dark, the water views were gorgeous. The perfect spot for out-of-town guests.

After DiMillo's, we met up with Zach, owner the Maine Brew Bus (if you haven't seen it around town yet, the bus is fabulous- painted bright green on the outside and decorated with red lights inside). Zach drove us in style to Maine Mead Works. Although I did not participate in the tastings, I was already a fan of their mead. They have fun flavors like lavender and strawberry and seem to constantly be expanding their selection. After the tasting, the friendly folks gave us an informative tour of the facility. What a production they run!

Our next stop was Sebago Brewery, a local Maine favorite. We were escorted to a private room where everyone was presented with a tasting flight. A gracious host gave us a verbal tour of the beers- of which Sebago has many to offer.

The night ended at the Thirsty Pig in the heart of the Old Port. They have a rotating tap of local beers and a fun, laid back atmosphere. I have to say, however, that my favorite part of this bar is the unlimited free shuck-them-yourself peanuts.

What a great way to kick off the weekend's festivities. Alyssa and Nick, you rocked those Jasmine and Aladdin costumes!
