We moved from "the city" to "the 'burbs" of Cumberland Foreside two years ago. Even tho we're one street away from the ocean, we feel miles away atop our road nestled among towering pines and an abundance of privacy. This morning we spotted a special visitor in our backyard, a stately barred owl. Captivated by his presence and grace, our friend was perched on the same branch just outside our back door for hours turning his head from side to side or later, below, catching a nap in the sunshine as the sun began to go down. We couldn't help but think a visit from such a wise creature was a good sign for MLK and Inauguration Day.
