Betsy and Marie had an intimate celebration with their two girls, Kim and Lucy, and their other family and friends at the Inn by the Sea in Cape Elizabeth.
These two have been together for over 20 years, and had another ceremony in the past, but didn't waste any time making it legal now that they have the opportunity in Maine. They planned a sweet celebration that highlighted the roles of their two daughters, who are clearly the lights of their lives. I had such fun photographing Kim having her nails done, and Lucy playing with (my favorite as a kid) My Little Ponies, while Betsy and Marie helped each other get ready upstairs. I loved seeing Marie climb up on the tub to get a better look at Betsy's hair, and help get that one tricky strand into place.
After a sweet ceremony, guests enjoyed cocktails and then dinner, along with some funny toasts from Betsy's brothers and grace by Marie's sisters. We brought along the Maine Snapshot Studio which was a total hit and got lots of traffic. Betsy and Marie said there "might" be dancing that night if people were so inclined, and boy were they! The kids started it off and the adults soon followed. I remember remarking to the ladies as I looked around at all the commotion that it wasn't even 8:00 pm yet!
It was my honor to photograph my first legal, same sex wedding here in Maine with a family I truly adore. Here's to many more!
