Angelique and Pin-Bo were friends before they ever started dating, and all it took was one strawberry milkshake to tip their friendship into something more. It's really more complicated than that, I'm sure, but sometimes one small thing can put you on a different path.
Angelique, who was living in Massachusetts, had been sick for a few days and was craving a strawberry milkshake. Pin-Bo, who was living in New York, took it upon himself to drive up to visit her, milkshake in hand. Quite the effort for just a friend, right? Angelique thought it was sweet at first, but then her wheels started turning, wondering if it meant something more. Whether or not it was intentional, I don't know, but Pin-Bo made an impression that day.
These two have also been through some hard times together, including the recent loss of Angelique's father, Michael. He was remembered throughout the day in different ways, including during the parent dances. Angelique danced with her father before his passing, and it was taped so that she could share it at the wedding while dancing with her brother, Philip (who also officiated their ceremony). It was such a touching way to remember her father and I could feel the sorrow, and love, clearly permeating the room.
Everyone soon headed upstairs for dinner and was treated to some great toasts. Pin-Bo's brother, Yau-Liong, had everyone cracking up and Angelique's sister, Dina, shed a few tears remembering the day her sister was born. Then, as dinner progressed, a few unexpected toasts were said and I remember thinking how fitting it was for these two. This couple just exudes a sense of kindness, humor, and fun that I know their friends and family really appreciate. It was so sweet to see some of that expressed that evening.
After the lovely dinner, guests came back downstairs for some dancing and started things off with a bang with some lively Greek dancing. Money was flying, kids were running and squealing, and the adults were kicking up their heels. Their DJ kept things rolling and the partying continued into the night.
Angelique and Pin-Bo, thank you so much for having us, and I better get to see you two again sometime soon! xo
How they met, in their own words:
We have known "of" each other since childhood, because we shared a common close friend but had never really met. When our dear friend passed away in 2010 we met in Austin, TX at his memorial. We became instant best friends. For the next year our friendship grew stronger and stronger. The day before Pin-Bo moved to Austin, TX we both realized we were in love and would try to date long distance. We traveled to see each other, talked every day (thank God for G-chat) and Pin-Bo moved back to Boston in the fall of 2011. At the top of Mt. Champlain in Bar Harbor in Oct of 2012, Pin-Bo proposed. The rest is history.
