No one would argue that entrepreneurship is important to Mainers, and nowhere better showcases Portland's small business community than the Entreverge awards put on by the Chamber of Commerce's Propel group. One could further conclude that the group has landed on the best place in town to host, Grace Restaurant on Chestnut Street.
Under the vaulted ceilings, nominees gathered along with around 500 guests to celebrate, with high hopes of bringing home one of the coveted electric guitar trophies. From the beautiful back balcony, over the steady hum of the lively crowd, axes were awarded to:
Garbage to Garden, community composting
Pika Energy, residential wind turbines
Cairn Event Consulting, wedding and event consulting (yay, Heather!)
Urban Farm Fermentory, cider, kombucha, and more. Delicious. (Congrats Eli!)
Mainely Burgers, Scarborough, Food Truck. Ok, now I'm just hungry.
Congratulations to all the nominees and winners! This program holds special significance at our studio as Emilie won one of those coveted guitars the very first year, and we are happy to return every year with our photo booth to capture some of the fun.
Now I'm going to make a salad...
