Elisa and Lee's intimate outdoor wedding in Meredith, New Hampshire

I was honored to photograph Elisa and Lee's delightful lakefront wedding in Meredith, New Hampshire.  Close to Winnipesaukee, but fronting the much smaller Lake Winnisquam, this 45 person celebration was a cordial and intimate affair.

Both ceremony and reception took place outdoors at Elisa's gorgeous family home, lending a casual feeling to an elegant day.  In fact, friends and family brought contributions in many forms.  Uncle and hairstylist John Shoonmaker lent his expertise, styling Elisa with a beautifully intricate bun.  The veil was Elisa's mom's, adding a significant personal touch to a lovely gown.  Friend of the family Rona Tyndall did the honors as officiant.

One of Elisa and Lee's shared passions is a love for outdoor adventure, and a wedding unconfined by walls and a roof was important to them.  With ceremony and cocktail hour both taking place on the lake, and an open air dance floor set up on the expansive lawn, this was as outdoor as a wedding can get.  Guests did have a chance to revel under the tent with delicious dinner and libations provided by Forklift Catering, but were soon back out to the dance floor for one of the highlights of the day, the Contra Dance.  This was my first experience with the style, and I must say it looked like a ton of fun.  Similar to square dancing, contra dance is led by a caller while groups of partners form rows or a square.  Add in some folksy string music, in this case provided live by Sassafras Stomp, and before long the whole wedding was bouncing and spinning around the dance floor.  From what I can tell, this type of dancing is all about bringing people together, so a contra dance at a wedding was simply apropos!

Elisa and Lee: Congratulations!  And many happy trails...

How they met, in their own words:

Elisa and Lee met through a mutual friend in a dusky backyard in Utah a few years ago, ran some canyons together, and didn't think much of it at the time. Little did they know that a few years later they would meet up, back in New England, and hit it off! Their shared love of adventure has led them out to Utah, where they've spent the past year and a half skiing, hiking, fishing, and having great adventures.

Elisa proposed to Lee one evening last summer, at a campsite by the river in front of the campfire in the backcountry of the high Uinta Mountains. He said yes!
