I was lucky to recently photograph the highly talented friend of the studio Kate Martin (of Beautiful Days), and her family: husband Daytes and son Wyatt. I say lucky because having worked with Kate on several occasions, I knew she was fun and creative, and we'd have a blast. What I didn't know, but should have figured, was how fun Daytes and Wyatt are as well.
It wasn't long after pulling up to their wooded home that conversation turned to bicycling. As an everyday rider and bicycle enthusiast, I had a great time getting to know the family a bit through the two wheeled vehicle. I learned that Wyatt taught himself to stand on the top tube while riding shortly after taking his training wheels off. Daytes opened the garage to show me an incredible hand built frame that he completed several years back. Kate rocked an old school cruiser over a teeter totter set up along the dirt driveway.
A seasonably warm July day, the fam cooled off after the riding by cranking on the sprinkler and lounging on a hammock with popsicles and watermelon.
Thanks very much for having me by, Kate, Daytes and Wyatt! Hope we can kick it again soon!
