Nick and Daniela took advantage of the lush green summer season. The farmhouse and open-air wood barn gave a warm feeling to the homegrown nuptials that were planned in just one week! These two are spontaneous, fun, and carefree, as were many of their guests, who all helped with the planning and prep. From splitting wood for benches to pitching tents for the dinner and sleeping, bbq grilling food to sangria-making, this was a hearty bunch ready to get down and dirty, donning towels, umbrellas, and rain jackets for the ceremony held under a cathedral of evergreen trees.
Nick hails from Portland and is a merchant marine who ships out all over the world. Dani is a ballet dancer from Brazil and is currently obtaining her master's degree in the dance field at NYU. Almost 70 friends and family rallied for this big event with just a week's notice. Much of Dani's family still lives in Brazil, so only her mother could make the trip. Nick and Dani have been friends for six years, dating this last year. As they said about their relationship, "the embers quickly gave way to fire." Their love is strong and passionate -- so strong that Nick's brother Johann calmly reminded them after their ceremony kiss, "You forgot the rings." They were so excited to get married, the rings were an after thought! Johann had to tap Nick on the arm and hand him the box of rings. Neither Nick or Dani waited for the officiant, both taking the lead, declaring their own vows, and placing the rings on each others' fingers.
It wasn't my usual type of coverage as I was only there for a portion of the day, but I have no doubt these two and their guests tore up the barn dance floor after I left!
Dani and Nick, thank you so much for letting me document your wedding. I'm so glad we were able to make it work on such short notice! You two are so much fun and so in love -- what an awesome thing to witness. I wish you all the best and hope to see you around Portland!
