Sasha and Mike's seaside wedding at The Grey Havens Inn on Georgetown Island

A huge bonus to shooting weddings is that we are fully immersed in an intensely joyous event on a regular basis.  Call it a bonus, or a fringe benefit, or just part of the job, but is something I like to fully take account of and never take for granted.  I have a great time traveling to and shooting at all variety of unique towns and amazing venues across the state of Maine and beyond, but the real reward is spending the day, a highly charged day, with the happy couple and their families.

The joy was on full display from the moment I began shooting Sasha's hair and makeup prep in the suite at the Grey Havens Inn.  If there were any nerves on her part they were hiding deep below the surface, as she and her two besties were having a blast in the pretty violet room overlooking Sheepscot Bay.  With an assist from Mom, Sasha was into her dress, a beautiful flowing tiered gown, and long veil.

Down the street I caught up with Mike as he buttoned into his sharp suit.  Officiant and friend Jerry worked out final deets for the ceremony, father John straightened the tie, but again not a touch of nerves in this place.

The ceremony location at the Gray Havens is incredible, a cliff side lawn perched high above the waves.  The brief ceremony was elegant in its simplicity, with a wide view of the Atlantic stretching to the horizon.

I can't thank Sasha, Mike and their friends and families enough for their kindness on wedding day.  From the laughs at prep and tears of happiness of the ceremony, to the shared moments at the beach and the boisterous dance party, this wedding was the happiest of celebrations.

Congratulations Sasha and Mike!  Hope I might see you again soon!

How they met, in Sasha's words:

We met at a bar in Chicago, where Michael was managing at the time. I had recently moved to the city and was looking for a waitressing job. I came in and Mike interviewed me. Once I was hired we gradually got to know each other by working together for many of the same shifts. We bonded over shuffle board games at the bar - and after a few months I asked him out on a date!
