November Flanagan's Table dinner with Chef Krista Kern Desjarlais

There was some very creative cooking going on at this latest dinner at Flanagan's Table.  Chef Krista Kern Desjarlais, of Bresca And The Honey Bee at Outlet Beach in New Gloucester, utilized a cooking method I have never seen before.  She seared fish over a fire pit with hay to get a smoky, grassy kind of flavor infused into the meat.  It was later served with glazed turnips and a citrus brown butter to the delight of diners.

These dinners truly highlight the most innovative chefs in our area and it is always a pleasure to photograph!

Papier store reopening in Portland, Maine

Papier owner Valerie Kyros deserves a medal. She and colleage Pam boxed up their entire Free Street stationery boutique and reopened next door for seven weeks while their shop was renovated from top to bottom. Once construction was complete, they moved everything back in and recently invited the local business and wedding community in for an evening to get acquainted with the updated store. A new bridal consult loft, gleaming restored hardwood floors, and shelves stocked to the top with fresh product were on display, while passed yummies and champagne punch from Aurora Provisions made the occasion extra festive. Modern blooms from neighboring Compositions Floral brightened the new space even more as guests mingled amongst themselves and likely started to make their holiday wish lists (we did!). I photographed the store in the afternoon, while fellow photog Steve captured the evening soiree. Enjoy a few pics here, but be sure to swing by and compliment the ladies on a great renovation in person! Cheers to Heather of Cairn Event Consulting for a great event!

family of three in Falmouth, Maine

Little Charlotte is now 4 months old and taking in her world in a whole new way.  She's just old enough to really notice the sound of the shutter and regarded me and my big camera in a somewhat quizzical way.  She was not so sure about staying still for very long so we walked, bounced, and rocked our way around her little neighborhood to try to keep her smiling.  Charlotte's mom, Becky, and dad, Keith, were so attentive to her needs and their adorable dog, Wyatt, kept a close eye on us.  He did not want to be left out of the fun.  It was my pleasure to hang out with this sweet family and see little Charlotte looking not so little anymore!

mini session in Cumberland Foreside

This family is like family and we are incredibly lucky that this awesome foursome (plus 4-legged friend Lucy) live next door. Regular dinners and playdates and random driveway hellos with these guys make living in this neighborhood the best! Love you guys!

Heather and Dana's Portland engagement session

I was excited to meet Heather and Dana for their engagement session in the Old Port.  I'll be shooting this laid-back couple's wedding next August on my favorite Peaks Island (sigh!) at the wonderful Inn on Peaks.  I can't wait!  They drove up from Boston, but were staying at Dana's parents house in Falmouth, where he grew up, for the weekend.  I was informed that pizza is Dana's favorite food and has played a role in their five year relationship.  They met in college at Northeastern (I went to BU for grad school, right around the corner), and on their first date Dana dropped a slice of pizza on the floor at a restaurant.  Being such a devoted pizza lover, he picked it up and ate it.  And of course, they were off to his favorite restaurant after their engagement session -- "FHOP" aka Falmouth House of Pizza.  All that pizza talk, sheesh.  I'll have to find out what Heather's favorite food is next time I see them!  Thanks for hanging out in the chilly weather, you two!  You are adorable together and I cannot wait until your wedding!  August will be here before you know it!
