Whenever I photograph an elopement it takes me a minute to adjust because they have such a different feel than a typical wedding. The room the bride gets ready in is often quiet, in this case it was just Patricia and I until Tracy from Inn by the Sea came in to help her into her dress. We all walked down to the lobby where Thomas was waiting and then outside for the sweetest ceremony on the patio. Only four people were witnesses to their marriage, and we got to see Thomas' comforting smile as Patricia became emotional during their vows.
The three of us then strolled the grounds and headed down to the beach for some portraits. They told me they chose Inn by the Sea from an article in a magazine, and had never been to Maine, save the previous March when they came to the inn to check it out. I love how they just chose a place that seemed like a great destination and decided to get married there. Way to make it easy on yourselves, right? They will enjoy a full wedding in Austria next year, but I was thrilled to be a small part of their intimate stateside nuptials on the coast.
