And this was most definitely an event all about family and friends. Guests were treated to a glorious ceremony, complete with touching readings and ukelele music from close friends and family (as well as the breaking of the glass). Both maid of honor and best man were siblings, and both gave heart felt toasts at the warm reception up in the barn. An obvious highlight of the night was the first dance, Jason dapper indeed, Kirstin killing in Vera Wang; their deep connection obvious as every guest looked on with happiness.
This tight knit group had that 18th century barn rocking on its foundations by the time the sun set (a solstice, I believe). From the adorable ring bearers and flower girls to grandparents, everyone hit the floor to celebrate in honor of our happy newlyweds. In traditional fashion, our lucky couple headed for the beach shortly following the wedding. Have a blast in the sand Kirstin and Jason! Thanks for having me and congratulations!
How they met, in their own words:
We were both using an online dating service. Kirstin messaged Jason because of his "punny" username, '50 shades of Jay'. We talked that first night for nearly three hours and made plans to meet. The first time we met, we had a couple of drinks in Astoria and had great conversation. On our second date, a few days later, we had a nice steak dinner in Manhattan and had our first kiss at the rooftop bar at the Gaanesvoort Park Avenue hotel with the Empire State Building in the background. Jason was able to woo Kirstin that night by singing "The Rainbow Connection" in his Kermit the Frog voice. Kirstin will walk down the aisle to a friend playing that song on his ukelele.
