small seaside ceremony of Tammie and Rick in Kingston, Massachusetts

by

Tammie sent me a spreadsheet with the name, affiliation and photograph of each of their 22 guests before her wedding to Rick so I would know who was who. It was the teacher in her, Tammie said. I loved it. Tammie's sorority sister (and my wedding dress angel), planner and former dress shop owner, and on this day- officiant!- Tracie Garceau had a blast pulling together the details of the day. Tammie even had guests wear clothes in the same color palette as the cushions on the porch furniture of the rental property were they wed. Brilliant! It was all of their nieces and nephews who stole my heart on this day, taking turns reciting an adorable poem during the ceremony, tossing beach balls and playing with parasols on the beach after, competing in corn hole and making funny faces as their parents indulged in lobster as they colored and took turns choosing songs on the iPod from the kids table nearby. It was a treat to spend a few hours with this crew and those delightful cousins dodging rain drops and toasting to a happy life together. Congratulations, Tammie and Rick!

How they met, in their own words:

Rick and Tammie were reunited after a brief encounter 12 years earlier at his nephew’s Christening. Tammie’s sorority sister arranged (unbeknownst to them) to have them both present at the Christening and see if sparks would fly. Well, we won’t go into details, but the sparks didn't fly just yet. Twelve years later Rick finally got the courage (heavily influenced by his sister-in-law) to ask Tammie out for a date. It was love at second sight for the two of them and for the next few years they would each commute from opposite sides of the state of Massachusetts to see each other.

In November of 2013 Rick proposed right before they jetted out to a Bruins game. Their first instinct was to elope since they both come from overwhelmingly large families. After much thought and deliberation they realized that they did indeed want to share this special day with those they love most. Rick is a Mass Maritime grad and they live in a waterfront home on a local pond. They both share a passion for hockey, boating, the Red Sox and a picturesque sunset. True New Englanders, Tammie and Rick settled on a small, intimate, seaside setting in the town in which she grew up, which embodies both their simplicity and passion for the beach and sea.
