Sarah and Ryan have such a sweet love story. They met during annual family trips to Barbados and bonded over surfing. Fittingly, the couple chose to wed at Sarah's family's home on the ocean in Beverly and honeymoon in Hawai'i. Many of the wedding's details were odes to the ocean. Guests picked up their seating cards from a surfboard boasting authentic Barbados sand and the house and tent were decorated with seashells and ocean hues.
It was a beautiful, relaxed setting for an equally laid back and handsome couple. All of the day's events took place on the sweeping lawn over looking the ocean. The ceremony was officiated by one of Sarah's (many) uncles--her dad comes from a family of 7 sons!--and their adorable and super social, pup, Cheeto, acted as their ring bearer. After the ceremony and some formalities, Sarah hiked up her dress like a pro to walk the rocky beach area with Ryan.
Dinner was catered by Timothy Hawkins and was insanely good. Dinner, of course, led into dancing and I couldn't have asked for a better time. The band, 747 Orchestra, was great--the musicians often wandered onto the dance floor with their microphones and trombones--and the crowd more than reciprocated. Love to see such a heartfelt ceremony followed up with such sweet dance moves by all!
Many congrats you two! I hope you are having an amazing time in Hawai'i!
How they met, in their own words:
Sarah and Ryan met in Barbados over the Christmas of 2006, where Ryan
spotted Sarah surfing South Point, and hasn't stopped following her
around in the water since. Sarah and Ryan saw each other over annual
family trips to Barbados in the years following, but they spent the
duration of the years separately: Sarah lax-ing and finger-painting at
college in California, Ryan dreaming up CooCoo on Long Island. The pair
began dating once reunited on the east coast and eventually made their
way to New York City, where Sarah's child, Cheeto, spent several months
acclimating to her new "father figure." Ryan proposed that December in
Barbados, not far from where the two originally met surfing 7 years ago.
On top of the bluff, overlooking the water, he popped the Q, and after a
brief and final interrogation of the suitor, Sarah said YES! An
island-fling turned life-long romance!! (I had to.)
