These two, especially together, are just a breath of fresh air. Tricia welcomed me with a huge smile as she got a first look at her flowers, beautifully designed by a close friend. She just has this truly joyful energy that only multiplied when she saw Matt for their first look. His reaction is what I think all brides hope for in that moment. He was obviously wowed and took his time to really drink in the dress, the hair, all of it. And he shed a couple of tears through his ear-to-ear grin.
They had a lovely ceremony under the trees followed by a cocktail hour on the lawn and dinner prepared by Pizza by Fire, a local catering crew with a mobile wood fired oven for baking the most delicious pizza you've just ever had. Trust me. Guests were obviously loving the food and the casual vibe in the barn and were able to finish off their meal with either a candy buffet, a spread of cookies and cupcakes, and/or hand scooped gelato! What more could you want, really?
A sugar-fueled evening followed as people ripped it up on the dance floor as another friend helped out as the mix master. Sometimes a bride and groom get separated at their reception, trying to greet all the people who've come to celebrate with them. I was happy to see that these two seemed to balance the hello's with reconnecting over and over to dance together and really be present at their own celebration.
Tricia and Matt, I had a ball! And I know you did too ;)
How they met, according to Tricia:
Matt and I met in an improv class in NYC in 2009. Having both grown up
in more rural settings, we knew we wanted to get married outside,
somewhere in nature, to take our vows. We both immediately loved the
Barn on Walnut Hill. The landscape, the barn and the house just really
spoke to what we wanted to experience and share with our guests on our
special day. We wanted guests to feel relaxed, comfortable and ready to
party! We chose Pizza by Fire to help create a low-key, relaxed dinner
setting. Since we are surrounded by such amazing creative friends,
guests are helping with music, bouquets, filming and hair and make-up.
We're excited for everyone to truly be a part of it all.
