Sometime mid-summer during one of our usual late night chats after logging post-kid bedtime work hours at the house, hubby J mentioned that he was brewing an idea to host a marketing event for wedding professionals in Maine. I agreed, great idea! But how would it be possible to pull it together before the snow starts flying as surely folks would want to visit during leaf peeping season when the days are shorter but still comfortable and colorful.
Voila, Grow Brand Camp took place just 8 short weeks after thanks to the dynamic team at Tide Creative. Together J, Liz, Johann, Alina and Dana whipped together the most impressive two-day conference I have attended, no easy task. Truly. Every last detail was meaningfully cared for. From the line-up of talent that flew in from all over the country- J's most favorites from his rolodex of longtime industry connections- to the impeccably designed backdrops, signage, camper care packages, bagged lunches and on and on. I've never seen the Portland Company look so well decked.
In between presentations and small group breakouts were activities: a train ride of the infamous Narrow Gauge Railroad, a schooner ride on Casco Bay, family style dinners, coffees on the "front porch" in Adirondack chairs. It was all purposeful, and all wildly successful in giving attendees the chance to mingle, marvel and bond over this shared experience. 48 hours later, we all did feel like campers wistfully saying so long to our new found BFF's.
Talks are fortunately already in the works for the next Grow; the demand for another fix is high! Meanwhile, Facebook chatter and newsletters are keeping this tight-knit crew connected until we can reunite. I have a feeling that room of 80 campers probably won't be so small the next time!
Indulge in the photos below, a few snapshots. It isn't a complete look at the summit or its many featured speakers or vendors, but will surely give you enough of a glimpse at the wonder that did abound.
