Katie and Ben at the York Golf and Tennis Club

I first met Katie eight (!) years ago when her brother Nat married sweet Jess at Moraine Farm in Beverly, Massachusetts. I was newly engaged and remember soaking up the events of the wedding day in a new light. Both of us married and with two children each now, it was fun to reconnect again with so many familiar faces in attendance.

The day started at the Sheraton in Portsmouth for prep, everyone keeping a close eye on what was happening outside. Would it rain? Would it be sunny? Oh, what would be the fate for this outdoor ceremony? After shouldering everyone's opinions, Katie ultimately decided being inside was the safest option. So indoors it was, a close and cozy intimate ceremony led by friends and loved ones. Afterwards, we enjoyed being outside (fortunately it never did rain!) for group photos and a quick walk over to neighboring Hancock Wharf on the York River for a few formals.

I never know what to expect with country club weddings, but this setting was a wonderful surprise. Set back from the golf course and overlooking the river with buoyed boats and trees adorned with bright orange leaves, it felt more like a boat house. Inside, a central room that opened to a second floor with a balcony and vintage golf memorabilia offered a bird's eye view for the ceremony and dancing. A wrap-around porch served as the dining area for toasts and some playful table fun.

Once refueled, guests hit the dance floor thanks to Boston's fab Rare Form (Nat and Jess' band, too!) and turned that old country club into a bumping current club. I was impressed with the dance moves the younger guests pulled out while the older ones either joined in or watched in awe. Donuts and a make-your-own sundae bar kept energy levels high until the very last note.

Congratulations, dear Katie and Ben. What a pleasure to spend my last wedding season Saturday with such a beloved family. Best wishes!! xoxo
