Trinitarian Congregational Church wedding of Kate and Kerry in Castine, Maine

Kate and Kerry were married at the Trinitarian Congregational Church in Castine, Maine.  This church has been helping hold down the peninsula since 1829, and on September 20, 2014, the service was led by none other than the highly capable father of the bride.  Heartfelt and with a sense of humor, the ceremony culminated with a laugh and a cheer, and shortly thereafter the crowd of friends and family poured out the front doors of the church to congratulate the newlyweds.

To a quaint garden in lovely downtown Castine for photos, I felt thrilled to capture a touch of the great romance Kate and Kerry share.  Up the street to the reception at the Manor Inn, touches of their personalities and contributions from friends and family were in abundance.  Kate's aunt was provided and artfully arranged the flowers for the day, and sweet toasts were given by fathers, as well as maid of honor and best man.  Black and white prints of guests were the clever table assignments, and a 'Kate and Kerry' mini maple syrup were among the party favors.

Getting to know Kate and Kerry, I learned how much they have shared with each other since they met, from Kerry helping Kate learn to ski, to Kate introducing Kerry to the art of ballet.  This spirit clearly permeated their wedding day, and I am highly grateful to have shared in the experience as well.

Thank you kindly Kerry and Kate!  Congratulations!

Hoe they met, according to Kate:

Kerry and I met at Rira trivia in July of 2008. I was there with my friend Liz, who will be my Maid of Honor and he was with his friend Chris, who will be his Best Man! We joined forces to answer the trivia questions, went on our first date at the beginning of August and the rest is history. Over the last six years Kerry has helped me learn to ski, hike and in general, appreciate the great outdoors. I have introduced him to the wonderful world of ballet and all things dance related. It's amazing how much we have taught each other about our different interests! Along the way we brought home one viszla puppy (Jozsi, in 2009) and then another (Luna, in 2011). Our dogs keep us active and always put a smile on our face. We became engaged on February 28, 2014. It was 5 o'clock in the morning and we were heading out the door to catch a flight to the Cayman Islands. As I turned around to grab my suitcase Kerry was standing there holding a box! It was such a surprise and a whirlwind of a trip. I called my parents from the car and then we were off. It was really fun to go away and not have any contact with our friends and family for that first week. It made the engagement feel surreal. Once we were back home we settled on the idea of a wedding in the fall and the planning began...

  1. That fifth shot of the groom is fantastic. The rim lighting is subtle but really makes it pop. Great shot.
