Higgins Beach winter engagement session

Baby, it's cold outside!!

Hopestill (Hopie) and college sweetheart Nicholas met me at Higgins Beach where they had their first (surfing) date while attending Colby College. They are marrying in Falmouth next spring, where Hopie grew up, and wanted to be sure these special sands were somehow captured as part of their wedding story.

Initially they had proposed a surfing shoot. At sunrise. YES! I'd be game for that! But when the forecast offered numbers nearly in the teens, a bundled up afternoon stroll on the beach with pup Willow seemed a more comfortable alternative.

Twenty-five minutes in (or out, I should say), we retreated to their friends' place to thaw and waited for the sun to drop. We had one final dash back out to the beach with some dramatic light to end the afternoon.

I loved the chance to get to know these two and appreciated their up-for-anything attitude in possibly the most extreme cold I have photographed in quite some time! So looking forward to next June!
