Downeast wedding of Caroline and Jonathan in Blue Hill

I felt like I knew Caroline already when I officially met her on this day.  We had chatted several times over the phone about photos, schedules, how amazing Maine is, and more.  As I walked to the cottage she was getting ready in, I could hear a laugh through an open window and knew it was her.

This girl is a pro at planning events, so I hoped she would be able to let go of all the little details and enjoy the day, and she most definitely did. It helped that Jon was wandering around the grounds keeping an eye on the preparations, in the most laid back way.

After a lovely ceremony in town at a church, we took Caroline's family friend's antique Ford Phaeton back to the John Peter's Estate.  I just love shooting here.  The property overlooks Blue Hill Bay across hayfields with grasses and wildflowers blowing in the breeze.  You feel like you are in your own world up there on that hill.  Guests enjoyed cocktails and snacks in front of the old colonial home before moving into the tent for dinner and dancing.  Caroline and Jon's family and friends were also treated to photos taken by her father, Dan, of Maine scenes that were transferred onto ceramic coasters as favors.  Their cake was also made by Caroline's aunt and sat atop stands that were used by generations of her family.

The sun set ever so slowly as the music rang out and I'm sure this party took a long time to wind down.

Caroline and Jon, thank you so much for including Rachel and I on your beautiful day!
