Frances cutter ceremony and Portland Club reception

Jenny and Alexis met two years ago in public health in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) in central sub-Saharan Africa. A few weeks ago they had an African ceremony in Alexis' native village with his family. For their American wedding, the couple planned a destination wedding in Portland where family and friends traveled from all over the world to join them on the beautiful Frances cutter.

Along with all of their guests, I too, felt transported to a faraway place. We were treated to preparations in the brand new Press Hotel, a first look on a quiet Old Port side street, a processional through town to the dock, a two hour sail around Casco Bay, cocktails at a favorite bar, and a dinner party and dancing at the Portland Company. My feetsies were sore by day's end, but my heart was enormously full for these two and the experience I witnessed.

Alexis and Jenny, you are beautiful, inside and out. I won't soon forget your incredible vows to each other, and Alexis' flawless English as he professed how happy he is. Safe journey, and I cannot wait until you come back to fulfill the next part of your dream with your very own seaside Maine cottage. Félicitations!
