Scarborough wedding of Christine and Nathan at the Black Point Inn

I joined Christine and Nathan for their intimate, afternoon ceremony with just 20 of their closest family and friends.  It was such a treat to be part of such a small group that came together to celebrate these two on a beautiful day.

After their I Do's on the east lawn, complete with adorable giggling from Christine when there was a hiccup during the ring exchange, guests were invited inside for cocktails on the porch overlooking the beach.  I took the bride and groom out for some portraits and we were welcomed by a huge cheer from other patrons who were enjoying meals on the deck.  A bicyclist and a family of four also stopped to say congrats. People in Maine during the summer are just so happy!

The setup for dinner was just beautiful, with gorgeous flowers by Marcia Davis and lovely details done by Christine, such as little wooden buoys to hold the name tags and candy favors.  There were some excellent toasts given that had everyone, including me, laughing heartily.  We snuck out along the shore path for some more photos as the sun was getting lower in the sky, and these two were clearly tickled to have some (almost) alone time.

The night wrapped up with cake cutting and a sweet toast from this couple, and I just adored being a part of it.

Christine and Nathan, thank you so much for including me in such a cozy evening and I hope the rest of your time in Maine was lovely!

How they met, in Christine's words:

Nate and I met in Richmond, VA while pursuing our graduate degrees at Virginia Commonwealth University. Nate and I were friends, at first, but that didn't last long. I fell in love with him each morning we spent sipping coffee and tea at Crossroads. Nate walked me to the office almost every day before taking the bus to his part of campus. After spring break 2010, Nate and I were inseparable. We spent every moment together cooking and biking. After finishing our degree, we moved to Northern Virginia where we have resided for the past five years. Nate proposed on February 17, 2014 and I accepted with an emphatic “YES!"

We were one of the couples in the dining room watching the wedding that evening, observing almost 30 years ourselves. The couple next to us were celebrating their 66th anniversary, so there were many ardent hopes going up from that room for the young couple! You have captured the gilding of a perfect day and evening, as well as the expressions of the bridal party. Lovely work.
