Ashley and Justin decided to have a private family ceremony in Ogunquit to wed. They married at the adorable All Saints Church and dined at Barnacle Billy’s after. Two weeks later, they hosted 200 guests at a beach-chic seaside reception on Drakes Island that I had a pleasure of documenting. After a few quick family photos at Ashley’s parents’ house, the newlyweds arrived at their celebration down the road in a beautifully restored 1931 Ford Woodie. They couldn’t have asked for better autumn weather; a warm day, cool night, with a nearly full moon. An extended cocktail hour on the lawn, then into the tent for a delicious buffet by Kitchen Chicks and pie for dessert. Wedding planner Sharon Hardy made sure the reception was decorated perfectly and set up smoothly. Ashley and Justin didn’t want much attention on themselves. A few brief formalities of a first dance, parent dances, and a toast happened right away, but the rest of the night was for catching up with all the guests and making sure they were enjoying themselves. No doubt they did with the band, Soul of Boston, keeping the dance floor packed. The band spied some creative dancers in the crowd and called them out, as well as recruited a Tina Turner-esque singer (with backup singers and dancers, of course!) for a lively rendition of “Proud Mary.” Sadly I left just as the next set was about to go down, and I can only imagine what happened!
It was so nice to meet Ashley’s sister Loren and her husband Shawn, whose wedding Emilie photographed last year, as well as Sue and Ray, the parents of Maggie and son-in-law Ross, whose wedding Emilie photographed in 2006. Love running into other emilie inc. families while photographing at weddings!
Congratulations, Ashley and Justin! Hope you had many adventures on your honeymoon to Italy!
How they met, according to Ashley:
Justin and I grew up in small neighboring towns in MA. My best childhood friend married his best childhood friend! They set us up on double date with them in Maine in May 2010! We've been together ever since :)
We actually grew up 3 miles away from each other. We just bought our 1st house in his hometown of Littleton, MA.
Justin and I have both been to so many weddings we wanted something a bit different. We're also both fairly laid back so wanted a 'low fuss' wedding (but with all the fun, of course) so we decided to do a family only ceremony (immediate family) and just a big reception.
