Late October can go either way for Maine weddings: unseasonably warm like summer or chilly and dark like November. For Jill and Chris' formal affair at the Black Point Inn it was the latter, but no matter, these two were giddy to be married and their guests were on board for whatever they wanted to do.
The day began in the beautifully appointed guest rooms- guys and girls separate until a first look and some formal portraits outside. Chris was ecstatic to see Jill in her stunner Anna Maier gown (beautifully paired with her mother's floral gown from Spoil Me) for a quick walk before retreating inside to swap love notes.
Soon guests assembled on the front lawn of this grand historic inn overlooking the water cozied up in warm coats and blankets while Jill's uncle officiated a beautiful ceremony (with bits of comic relief by Chris who took the "repeat after me" part of his vows as, well, part of the vows he should say back).
We managed a few more portraits outside after the official pronouncement before darkness fell as Jill and Chris' VIPs clinked glasses under heaters on the deck or inside the inn's spacious main floor. Dinner was served in the grand ballroom, toasts peppering the courses before the dance floor was officially open and Larry Williams' crewed kept everyone moving and grooving until late night.
It was an honor and a pleasure to work with these two and their families, my last official wedding of the 2015 season. Three cheers for love and for wrapping up 12 years of documenting happy couples! Enjoy South Africa!!!!

How they met, in their own words:
Jill and Chris met at a “lobsterfest” party thrown by their mutual friend, Megan, in DC back in 2008. Though Chris claims he knew Jill was something special, the two didn’t hit it off that night.
They occasionally crossed paths over the next many years, she living in DC and New York, he in Boston, New York and Houston, but it wasn’t until spring 2012 that Jill and Chris both landed in New York, where she was living and he was interviewing for a job, hoping to return to the East Coast. That weekend they found love (and the cotton-eyed Joe) on the dance floor at the University Club’s Casino Night, and mere weeks later Chris accepted the job in New York. They saw each other the night of his arrival and the rest, as they say, is history.
Jill grew up in Portland, Maine, and attended Colby College, and Chris found himself in Maine for College about 50 miles down the road at Bowdoin. They now return several times a year to spend holidays with Jill's family, make ski trips to Sugarloaf, and spend summer weekends at the beach or on Lake Cobbessee. They knew that Maine was a common theme if not love among their family and friends, and was the perfect destination to celebrate their wedding.
