tented private estate Kennebunkport wedding of Morgan and Kevin

Almost exactly 10 years to day that Morgan and Kevin started dating, did they wed.  These two were sweethearts at 16 and 18 years old.  I asked Morgan if she knew then that she would marry Kevin and with all her heart she said “yes,” followed by a smile and little laugh, “but I didn’t know it would take this long.”

During the ceremony, Kevin gave Morgan the very ring he gave her – a promise ring – when they first got together.  The rainy ceremony felt almost like a christening of sorts for their long awaited wedding.  Guests were troopers and donned umbrellas and ponchos, not minding the rain, and just happy to be there to witness these two tie the knot.  Morgan looked stunning in her long-sleeved backless dress by Berta.  Kevin’s Ted Baker suit was slick and he dressed it down by foregoing a tie.  Both of them were full of smiles for the ceremony, such a big moment finally happening.  Even through the raindrops, I spied some teary eyes of joy.  They have already been family for the last 10 years.  Now it was just official.

Since the rain was still falling after the ceremony, we moved the family photos to the patio with a little coverage, where the cocktail hour would have been.  Instead guests made their way to the tent to relax.  Morgan and Kevin were amazing – they rolled with the punches the rain threw at them and they decided to stick to couple portraits on her parents’ property.  It was extra special, Julie and Al opened their beautiful home for the wedding, but seeing how close these families were, it only made sense for this celebration to be hosted at such a personal place.  The rain even cleared for a bit when I ducked out with the two newlyweds later in the eveing for a few more portraits together.

The reception was full of laughs (and some tears) from the toasts, a surprise dance for Morgan’s mother Julie (Al asked his wife to join him in a dance to honor their recent 40th wedding anniversary), a sweet first dance, and two adorable parent dances.  The White Apron kept everyone well-nourished as usual.  Minka designed some romantic, lush florals.  The Smoking Jackets band got people grooving on the dance floor.  Audrey and Leslie of Azalea Events tied everything together and beautified it beyond belief.  Josh of Media Northeast captured the day in moving picture.  It was truly a pleasure to work with so many great people for this gorgeous wedding – 10 years in the making and well-deserved for such a sweet couple.

Morgan and Kevin, thank you so much for having me and Lindsay document your wedding day!  We loved being a part of it!  No doubt you’ll enjoy your St. Lucia honeymoon in December when those Maine temps drop!  So, so, so happy for you two – congrats!  xo
