During one of my planning meetings with Bridget and John eight months before the big day, I met them at Bridget’s parents’ home. Three hours later I was still there chatting with the four of them like old friends. We had more mutual friends than we realized, even between Bridget’s parents and mine, who live in a nearby neighborhood just up the road. I love finding those connections. Thankfully I live in Maine, so it happens often!
The next eight months went by quicker than expected. The wedding day was finally here. It was a hot and humid one with a chance of rain, but luck was on our side and it stayed dry. Brigdet and John opted to do a first look and family photos before the ceremony, so when I arrived at Bridget’s parents’ home, Bridget was enjoying some champagne with her bridesmaids and John and his groomsmen were working on their ties. Emily Carter had already dropped off the beautiful bouquets and the pink and green florals looked fabulous with the bridesmaids’ pale pink dresses. Bridget was a beautiful bride, and before the formal photos, she had a tender moment with her father Kevin that called for Jessica Candage’s rescue of a touch up right after – happy tears! A spritz of mom Cheryl’s perfume, and Bridget was ready for the first look. John was so handsome in his classic Brooks Brothers suit and a trooper with the heat! Bridget’s sister Caroline was on sweat patrol dabbing the bride and groom when needed.
After the family formals, we headed to Holy Martyrs Church in Falmouth with Caroline’s boyfriend Tom as our fabulous driver for the day. The renowned Msgr. Murphy, who has known Bridget’s family since she was a baby, married the couple. It was official – Mr. and Mrs. Cronan!
Off to the stunning home of family friends for some private photos with the super fun wedding party and then on to the Portland Country Club to celebrate! Both Bridget and John’s fathers, Kevin and John, welcomed guests. Another emotional moment between Bridget and her dad during the father-daughter dance and I don’t think there was a dry eye in the room – more happy tears! Bridget’s cousin wowed guests singing a song a cappella for the newlyweds. Kate and her team at the PCC were wonderful, and it is always nice to see Revolution DJ. Between Kate and DJ Luke, the reception festivities went off without a hitch. The decadent dessert table was to die for and guests ate every treat. Both John and Bridget’s friends and families were so welcoming and full of excitement and love for the couple – no wonder John and Bridget have an undeniable partnership based on this same kind of love and respect. John is so respectful; he told me he knows to give Bridget her space on the dance floor. “She’s a solo kind of dancer. She needs her space, so I give it to her,” he said with a smile and laugh. I was honored to witness said dancing – Bridget has some killer moves! Don’t think I’ve seen a bride enjoying dancing at her wedding as much as her – infectious!
Congratulations, Bridget and John – what a wonderful wedding! Thanks for allowing me to document it all and spend this time with you and your dearest family and friends. Cheers to a lifetime of happiness you two! xo
