Governor Langdon House wedding of Jackie and Josh in Portsmouth

I knew when I was greeted by a bunny rabbit at the Governor John Langdon House that it was going to be a good day.  I stopped there to shoot a bit before heading over to the hotel where Jackie and Josh were getting ready with their wedding party.

Jackie had her hair and makeup done and was hanging out with her friends and family in her PJ's, the picture of calm.  Her expression may have belied some nerves at being the center of attention all day, but she was playing it cool.

We all headed over to Prescott Park for her first look with Josh and some formals and boy was it hopping (pun intended) there! It was a gorgeous summer weekend and there was a production of The Little Mermaid going on as well.  I've never had to shout over "Under the Sea" when directing posed photos, so that was an interesting first!  Everyone was a great sport about it all and it was a nice way for them all to chat and hang loose a little before the ceremony.

Jackie's aunt officiated the ceremony, her first, and did a stellar job.  There were definitely some tears shed as well as some laughs.  After taking a few minutes after their marriage to celebrate, Jackie and Josh snuck off into the woods to read some private vows to each other. Such a good idea!  I appreciated that they wanted to keep some words just for each other.

The reception kicked off with their first dance and several meaningful toasts in the tent beautifully designed by Heidi Brissette at Seacoast Harbor Events.  Guests were treated to a classic lobster bake and blueberry cake for dessert.  Jackie and Josh cut a beautiful cheese cake instead of a traditional cake. And by cheese cake I mean a cake made with layers of wheels of cheese! Savory over sweet for these two!

This crowd was all about the organized dances and had a dollar dance, the chicken dance, and a traditional New Mexican dance called La Marche de los Novios, which signifies the twists and turns of marriage.  Then they all cut loose to the tunes of Luke Lanigan at Revolution DJ .

Jackie and Josh, thank you SO much for having me and safe travels back to Australia!
